Nick Lachey Biography
Nicholas Scott "Nick" Lachey (born November 9, 1973 in Harlan, Kentucky) was a member, alongside his brother Drew Lachey, of the boy band 98 Degrees. He later married pop singer Jessica Simpson.
Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey officially announced their separation on November 23, 2005, and Jessica Simpson filed for divorce on December 16, 2005 citing "irreconcilable differences".
According to the official 98 Degrees bio page, he was on his summer break from Miami University, where he studied Sports Medicine and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, when he was invited to join the group already in Los Angeles. Many of the group members are his former classmates from Cincinnati's School of Creative and Performing Arts.
All four albums released by 98 Degrees went platinum. In the fall of 2002, Lachey went solo and in November 2003 he released his first album, SoulO, which is generally considered to have been a flop (sold over 105,000 copies), despite the success of Newlyweds and the fact that a song from the album, "This I Swear", is the show's theme song.
He played Leslie St. Clair on the witch drama series Charmed for six episodes.
He has now signed with Jive records and is preparing for his next album.
In October of 2005 it was alleged by a Ohio State University student named Danielle Calo that Lachey coerced her into a hotel room in Columbus, Ohio for a make-out session. Lachey's representatives deny the rumors, and it is reported that Calo later called WNCI’s Morning Zoo radio show and denied most of the claims she made in the Star interview. Lachey was in town to film a broadcast of ESPN College GameDay.
