She came second in the FHM 100 Sexiest Women poll in 2005, beating the likes of Britney Spears and her bandmates Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle, only finishing behind Kelly Brook. In 2006, Cheryl finished sixth.

Cheryl won a Sun Online poll in January 2006 to find the celebrity people would most like to see topless on Page 3.

She also won the title of "Sexiest Footballer's Wife" in the FHM Bloke Awards in 2006, despite not being being married at the time of the poll.

Mike Skinner from The Streets claimed that his song "When You Wasn't Famous" was about Cheryl, a claim denied by a Girls Aloud spokesperson. Skinner later retracted the claim, saying he only dedicated the song to her because Girls Aloud were at the same taping of Top Of The Pops

She is sometimes referred to in the press as "Chezza" (see Hezza).
