Jesse McCartney was about to play James Kirk's character but he wasn't available. As a result, Bynes' character pretending to be a male seems to resemble McCartney.

Bynes didn't really play soccer; her double for most of her soccer scenes was Shannon McDonald, a native of Richmond, British Columbia. McDonald's husband was also a double for Tatum.

The lyrics of Sebastian's song in the film are the opening lines of "Let Go" by Dave Lichens.

The producers of this film initially wanted Jesse McCartney to play the role of Sebastian, because McCartney's facial features are similar to that of Amanda Bynes. McCartney was unavailable to shoot the film, so they cast James Kirk instead. Most of the cheerleaders also were the dancers in Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005) (TV), which was also directed by Andy Fickman.

When they're in the lab, Viola and Olivia's experiment spills over, making a large puddle. When the camera goes back to them, the puddle is much smaller.During the fight scene after the kissing booth, Justin can be seen wearing white underwear when it is Robert Hoffman playing him and black underwear when it is the stunt double.

During the final soccer game, Viola's face paint is smudged in one shot, then in the next, the smudge is gone.When Olivia is talking to Duke in the weight room she says 225 we see her say it, but then the camera moves behind her and we can see her mouth the word five but don't hear it.In the part where Duke is mad at Sebastian for kissing Olivia, he throws his pen onto the desk. Seconds later, the pen is back in his hand and he is seen throwing it again.

In the first soccer practice when Viola is running through the ladders/pylons, a person running with a camera is visible in a shadow.When Viola is being Sebastian, and she is sitting at the lunch table with the other guys there is an apple juice bottle and a Pepsi bottle. The apple juice bottle moves to various spots through out the lunch scene.When Viola tells everyone that she isn't her brother, she takes the wig off and its in her hand when she is moving her hair, but in the next scene it's not there.

When Viola/Sebastian just went to her/his dorm for the first time she/he puts all her/his stuff down on the bed including the soccer ball. Then when the guys see the tampons fall out of her/his boot, you can see that there is no soccer ball on the bed behind Viola/Sebastian.When Viola (Sebastian) just got to Illyria and got out of the car he/she was holding a folder, but Paul then passes her/him a soccer and ball and when she/he catches it the folder is now gone. Then when she/he turns around the folder reappears.

In the Cornwall/Illyria game when Justin and Duke are standing with the refs, Justin doesn't have a glove on his right hand, but when he backs off and asks Duke how is jaw is, he suddenly has a glove on his right hand.In the scene when Sebastian first leaves the head master's office and bumps into Olivia, all her stuff falls on the floor. When they are picking the stuff up the black folder is on top but when the head master goes back into his office Sebastian picks up the black folder off the floor.

You can't wear face paint when you play in a soccer game.If you fight at a soccer game you'd receive a red card and get thrown out of the game.If it's only the first game of the season, there would be no trophies after the game.

When Duke and Sebastian (Viola) are on the soccer field working on kicks and they are running through the soccer balls, they change. When they run through them up close, they are red and white. But, after Duke leaves and the coach is watching, the balls are black and white.The scene where Paul drops off Viola to Illyria School, she has a Illyria pamphlet in her hand, then in the next scene Paul passes a soccer ball to Viola and the pamphlet disappears, then in the next scene the pamphlet is back in her hands.

In the game against Cornwall, Illyria kick off at the start of both the first and second halves instead of alternating.After Viola takes her wig off in front of the crowd her hair goes from messy to perfectly straight between shots.On the soccer field before Viola reveals she is a girl, her sideburns change position between shots.

In reality, débutante escorts are chosen almost eight months in advance and there are teas and manners sessions throughout those eight months. There is no way that the characters could have switched escorts so late in the story and Viola would have never been able to be an actual débutante without successfully fulfilling her year-long requirements. The movie shows her joining the débutante process two weeks before the ball.
