Waste Management Review
Waste Management is the third English studio album by t.A.T.u.. Production began in early 2007 and is expected for a 2008 release, coinciding with the release of their film Finding t.A.T.u.. The album will be much less metaphorical than the last album, and will follow a more philosophical theme. According to t.A.T.u., the album has a much "dancier" style than their previous albums. In early January 2007, Volkova and Katina flew to Germany to begin production with their keyboardist, Sven Martin. The girls then met in Los Angeles on April 13, with the band following later. At some point, t.A.T.u. contacted Sergio Galoyan and enlisted him to produce for them yet again. Early on, the girls made it clear that they wanted to take a new direction with this album, both musically and lyrically. They stated wants of toning down "heavy psychological themes" like their former albums had addressed. They also mentioned desire for more upbeat, dance tunes. Later on the group's official blog gave information on the themes of the album, stating that it was almost a continuation of Lyudi Invalidy. In a 2007 issue of Elle Girl Russia, Lena stated "It’s kind of a part two of Lyudi Invalidi, our second album. We explained it many times that we call 'lyudi invalidy' all these cruel and mean human beings. And “waste†in new album’s name is the result of 'lyudi invalidy's' activity..." In November 2007, the music video for the leading single "Beliy Plashchik" was released, showing that one of the album's major themes was based heavily upon World War II. "Waste Management" is a term used in describing the treatment of humans in concentration camps. However, the group's management tried to make it clear that these allusions are unintentional.
